1. Introduction

PikMe (“PikMe”, “we”, “us” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share and protect personal information when you use the PikMe mobile application, website and related services (collectively, the “Service”).

PikMe is a social discovery application that allows users to share simple drawings, outfit descriptions and tags, discover content from people nearby, send nudges and, where available, exchange messages after mutual interest.

Because PikMe may use location information and enables interactions between users, we aim to collect only the information needed to operate the Service, provide its features, maintain security and meet our legal obligations.

Please read this Privacy Policy alongside our Terms and Conditions.

2. Who is responsible for your information?

The organisation responsible for your personal information is:

Legal entity: pikme limited

Registered address: [coming soon]

For the purposes of applicable UK data protection law, this organisation will generally act as the data controller for the personal information described in this Policy.

3. Who can use PikMe?

PikMe is intended for adults aged 18 and over.

We do not knowingly permit individuals under 18 to register for or use the Service.

If we discover that an account belongs to someone under 18, we may suspend or terminate the account and take appropriate steps to delete associated personal information, subject to any legal retention requirements.

If you believe a person under 18 is using PikMe, please contact us at [Insert support email].

4. Personal information we collect

The information we collect depends on how you use PikMe and which features you choose to access.

4.1 Account and registration information

We may collect:

Account identifiers.

Email address or other registration details, where required.

Date of birth or age-verification information, where required.

Authentication information, such as securely stored credentials or third-party authentication identifiers.

Account preferences and settings.

Records of your acceptance of our Terms and Privacy Policy.

We use this information to create and manage your account, verify eligibility, protect account security and provide the Service.

4.2 Drawings, images and outfit tags

When you create or share content, we may collect:

Drawings created using the PikMe canvas.

Outfit descriptions and selected tags.

Text or other information you choose to submit.

The date and time content is created or shared.

Technical information needed to store, display and manage your content.

You should not include your home address, phone number, workplace details or other sensitive personal information in your drawings, tags or descriptions.

4.3 Location information

PikMe may use location information to support nearby discovery.

Depending on the features enabled and the permissions you grant, this may include:

Approximate or precise device location.

Location coordinates or derived geographic areas.

Location information used to determine which users or content fall within your selected discovery radius.

Timestamps associated with location-related activity.

Location information you choose to provide manually.

We will explain the relevant location use when requesting permission or enabling a location-dependent feature.

We will not use precise location for purposes unrelated to the disclosed functionality without an appropriate lawful basis and any consent required by law.

You can manage location permissions through your device settings. Disabling location access may limit nearby discovery.

Important: The exact location information collected, whether it is stored or processed only temporarily, and how long it is retained must be confirmed against PikMe's actual technical implementation before this Policy is published.

4.4 Nudges and messages

If you use PikMe's interaction features, we may collect:

Nudges you send and receive.

Records of mutual nudges.

Messages you send or receive.

Message timestamps and delivery status.

Information needed to enforce messaging permissions.

Reports, blocks and moderation records associated with interactions.

We use this information to provide messaging, maintain conversation functionality, prevent abuse, enforce our rules and investigate safety reports.

4.5 Device and technical information

When you access PikMe, we may collect certain technical information, including:

Device type and operating system.

App version.

Device or installation identifiers.

IP address.

Network and diagnostic information.

Crash reports, error logs and performance data.

Security events and suspected misuse.

We use this information to maintain the Service, troubleshoot problems, protect accounts and improve reliability.

4.6 Purchases and subscriptions

If you purchase paid features or a subscription, we may collect:

Subscription status and plan type.

Purchase transaction identifiers.

Purchase and renewal dates.

Entitlements and access permissions.

Refund or billing support records.

Payments processed by Apple, Google or another payment provider may be subject to that provider's own privacy practices.

We do not claim to collect or store full payment card details unless our payment arrangements actually require us to do so.

4.7 Customer support and reports

If you contact us or submit a safety report, we may collect:

Your contact details.

The information you include in your enquiry.

Relevant account, content or interaction identifiers.

Evidence you choose to provide.

Our correspondence and the steps taken to resolve the matter.

We use this information to respond to enquiries, investigate reports, protect users and maintain appropriate records.

5. How we use your information

We will not use your personal information for a new, incompatible purpose without providing any additional information or obtaining any consent required by law.

6. Our legal bases for processing

Where UK GDPR applies, we must have a lawful basis for processing personal information.

Depending on the purpose, we may rely on the following bases:

Contract: Processing necessary to create your account and provide the features you request, including nearby discovery, nudges and messaging.

Legitimate interests: Processing necessary for our legitimate interests, such as securing the Service, preventing fraud, investigating misuse and improving reliability, where those interests are not overridden by your rights and interests.

Consent: Processing where we ask for your permission, including certain location-related processing or optional communications where consent is required. You can withdraw consent at any time, although this does not affect processing that took place before withdrawal.

Legal obligation: Processing necessary to comply with applicable laws, regulatory requirements or lawful requests.

We will determine and document the appropriate legal basis for each processing activity before launch. We will not rely on consent where another legal basis is more appropriate or use legitimate interests where consent is legally required.

7. Who can see your information?

PikMe is not designed around traditional public profiles, but information submitted to the Service may be visible to other users depending on the feature and your settings.

Other users may be able to see:

Drawings and outfit tags you choose to share.

Your shared content while it is available in discovery.

Nudges exchanged with them.

Messages exchanged with them.

Any other information explicitly displayed by the feature you use.

Your email address, account credentials and other non-public account information should not be exposed to other users unless you deliberately provide it or disclosure is otherwise lawful.

Location privacy: We aim to avoid exposing precise device coordinates to other users unless a feature explicitly requires this and the relevant disclosure and safeguards are in place. Nearby discovery may nevertheless allow users to infer approximate whereabouts from timing, distance or repeated activity.

You should avoid sharing content that reveals your home, workplace or regular movements.

8. Daily content and deletion

PikMe may be designed to reset or refresh drawings and outfit tags daily.

Where a daily reset applies, it controls the availability of content within the Service; it does not necessarily mean that every technical copy is immediately erased from all systems.

We may retain limited copies in backups, security records or moderation systems for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy or as required by law.

We will establish and publish appropriate retention periods for active content, deleted content, messages, location data, backups and moderation records before launch.

We will not retain identifiable personal information indefinitely without a valid reason.

9. When we share information

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

We may share personal information in the following circumstances:

9.1 Other users

We share the content and interaction information necessary to provide the features you choose to use, subject to the Service's design and settings.

9.2 Service providers

We may use third-party providers to support:

Cloud hosting and data storage.

Account authentication.

Location and mapping functionality.

Messaging and notifications.

Payment and subscription processing.

Crash reporting and diagnostics.

Security, moderation and customer support.

These providers may process information on our behalf under appropriate contractual arrangements.

The final published Policy should identify the actual providers or sufficiently specific categories of recipients used by the production app.

9.3 Legal and safety reasons

We may disclose information where reasonably necessary and lawful to:

Comply with a legal obligation or valid legal request.

Protect users from credible threats or serious harm.

Investigate suspected fraud, abuse or unlawful activity.

Establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

Protect our rights, property and the security of the Service.

We will assess requests and disclosures in accordance with applicable law.

9.4 Business transfers

If PikMe is involved in a merger, acquisition, restructuring, financing or sale of assets, personal information may be disclosed or transferred as part of that transaction, subject to appropriate confidentiality and data protection safeguards.

10. International transfers

Some of our service providers may process personal information outside the United Kingdom.

Where personal information is transferred internationally, we will ensure that the transfer complies with applicable data protection law. Depending on the destination and circumstances, this may involve an applicable adequacy regulation, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or another lawful transfer mechanism.

We will provide further information about relevant transfers and safeguards where required.

The final Policy must identify the countries or international transfer arrangements relevant to the providers actually used by PikMe.

11. Data retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, taking account of legal, operational, security and dispute-resolution requirements.

Our retention approach will cover:

Account information: While your account remains active and for a limited period afterwards where necessary.

Drawings and tags: In accordance with the content lifecycle and deletion rules of the Service.

Location information: Only for the period needed for the disclosed discovery functionality, security or other documented purposes.

Messages and nudges: While needed to provide the feature and, where justified, for safety, reporting or legal purposes.

Transaction records: For applicable accounting, tax and legal retention periods.

Support and moderation records: For a documented period proportionate to the issue and any legal obligations.

Technical logs and backups: For defined operational and security periods.

We will document specific retention periods or the criteria used to determine them and delete or anonymise information when it is no longer required.

12. How we protect your information

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration or disclosure.

These measures may include access controls, secure authentication, encryption where appropriate, monitoring, backups and restricted staff access.

No online service can guarantee absolute security. You should use a strong, unique password where applicable and contact us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.

If a personal data breach occurs, we will respond in accordance with applicable legal requirements, including notifying affected individuals or the relevant regulator where required.

13. Your privacy rights

Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, you may have the right to:

Access your personal information.

Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.

Delete personal information where the legal conditions for erasure are met.

Restrict certain processing.

Object to processing based on legitimate interests.

Receive or transfer certain information in a portable format.

Withdraw consent where processing relies on consent.

Complain to the relevant data protection regulator.

These rights are subject to applicable legal conditions and exceptions. For example, we may need to retain certain information to comply with legal obligations or defend legal claims.

To exercise your rights, contact [Insert privacy contact email]. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

We will respond within the applicable statutory timeframe.

14. Account deletion

You may request deletion of your PikMe account through the account settings, where available, or by contacting [Insert support email].

When we process a deletion request, we will delete or anonymise personal information that we no longer have a lawful reason to retain.

Some information may need to be retained for legal, security, accounting or dispute-resolution purposes. We will restrict its use to those purposes and retain it only for as long as necessary.

Deleting the app from your device does not necessarily delete your account or personal information. You should use the account deletion process.

If you have an active paid subscription, you may also need to cancel it separately through the relevant app store or payment provider.

15. Cookies, analytics and similar technologies

If PikMe's website or app uses cookies, software development kits (SDKs), analytics tools, advertising technologies or similar technologies, we will explain their purposes and obtain consent where required by applicable law.

These technologies may be used for:

Essential service functionality.

Security and fraud prevention.

Performance and crash diagnostics.

Understanding app usage.

Optional analytics or marketing, where implemented and lawfully permitted.

The actual technologies used, the information they collect and the available controls will be described in an appropriate cookie notice or additional privacy information where necessary.

We will not state that PikMe uses advertising or analytics technologies unless they are actually implemented.

16. Push notifications and marketing

PikMe may send service-related notifications, such as notifications about nudges, messages, account security or subscription status.

You can manage push notifications through your device settings and any available in-app controls.

If we send optional marketing communications, we will do so in accordance with applicable law and provide an appropriate way to opt out.

Disabling notifications may prevent you from receiving alerts but will not necessarily disable the underlying feature.

17. Automated processing and recommendations

PikMe may use automated processes to determine which content appears in nearby discovery or to apply technical safety controls.

Where such processing is used, we will explain its purpose and the main factors involved where required by law.

We will not make solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you without meeting the applicable legal requirements.

If the Service introduces profiling or substantially different recommendation systems, we will update this Policy before implementing the new processing where required.

18. Children's privacy

PikMe is intended for users aged 18 and over.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18 for the purpose of providing them with an account.

If we identify an underage account, we will take appropriate steps to restrict access and handle its personal information in accordance with applicable law.

Our age restrictions do not remove any separate legal obligations that may apply to PikMe as an online service.

19. Third-party links and services

PikMe may contain links to external websites or use third-party services.

Those services operate under their own privacy policies and terms. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of independent third parties.

We encourage you to review their privacy information before providing them with personal information.

20. Complaints and the right to contact the ICO

If you have concerns about how PikMe processes your personal information, please contact us first at [Insert privacy contact email].

If you are in the United Kingdom, you may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO):

Website: https://ico.org.uk/
Telephone: 0303 123 1113

You may have additional rights to pursue a complaint or legal remedy under applicable data protection law.

21. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to PikMe, our data practices, our service providers or applicable law.

We will update the “Last updated” date when changes are made. Where required by law, we will notify you of material changes before they take effect.

If a new purpose for processing personal information requires additional information or consent, we will take the necessary steps before commencing that processing.
